Tim McCreadie is surprise Chili Bowl winner - By Bobby Gerould - January 14, 2006 - Tulsa, OK. ...Late Model Stock Car driver Tim McCreadie of Watertown, NY shocked the open-wheel world by capturing the A-Main at the 20th annual Chili Bowl Midget Nationals Saturday night at the Tulsa Expo Center. A standing-room-only crowd witnessed a thrilling 50-lap feature event that saw McCreadie - driving the Steve Smith Racing #1a, come from tenth starting position to win convincingly. ďThis is by far and away the biggest race Iíve won, so Iím happy, real happy,Ē said the winner. McCreadie rode the bottom of the track to perfection, stealing the lead from Jay Drake on lap 35. Also in the mix for the victory was Cory Kruseman, and Sammy Swindell at various points in the race. Swindell climbed to second place but a flat left rear tire forced the four-time Chili Bowl winner to the pits for good on lap 41. Drake wound up as runner-up, and Kruseman was third at the checkered flag. Brad Kuhn finished fourth. Josh Wise drove a brilliant race. He started 21st and raced up to a fifth place finish.
