Haulmark All Star Sprint Results - 81 Speedway - Fri. 8/22/03 By Scott Hall WICHITA, KS - Jason Johnson garnered his fifth win of 2003 Friday night at 81 Speedway in the Haulmark All Star sprint car-NCRA 30 lap feature. Johnson, aboard the Harrison Trucking machine, took over the lead from Shane Stewart and led the final four circuits to victory lane. It was almost a clean sweep for Johnson who set fast time, won the Haulmark Dash but came home second in his heat race.

Johnson said from victory lane, "I just can't thank Al Harrison enough, giving me the opportunity to drive the HTI number 22. We got a lot of great sponsors, everybody's doing a great job and it's a helluva lotta fun. Shane was real good at the beginning and a lot of times you can burn your tires up, I mean he did a real good job and its fun to race with Shane (Stewart), he is one of the cleanest racers in the United States to race with."

Stewart was the early leader and then running second in a great battle with Johnson, but came up light at the scales at the end of the event and was disqualified. Polesitter Jeremy Campbell took the initial lead over Brooke Tatnell before CJ Johnson spun in turn two on lap four, bringing out a yellow. On restart, fourth starter Stewart took the lead. After another restart on lap eight Jan Howard drove in turn one too deep and hit Campbell in the left rear, popping his tire, sending a disappointed Campbell to the rear for the restart after a tire change.

With Stewart still in the lead, a lap 13 yellow turned to red for Dennis Park and Luke Cranston as Park got upside down off turns three and four. Park was okay with a sore back. During the red flag Dean Jacobs, Jeff Shepard, Daron Clayton, Aaron Berryhill, Jonathan Allard and Bill Rose all change right rear tires due to tire wear on the abrasive surface.

The restart order was now Stewart, Tatnell, Johnson, Chad Kemenah and Kenny Jacobs who started seventh. A lap later Travis Rilat moved past Jacobs for fifth as Ryan Coniam and Greg Wilson battled for seventh. By 18 Howard went around the top of Coniam and K. Jacobs for sixth. The yellows continued on lap 19 with Berryhill stopping on the track as D. Jacobs went to the pits. On the restart Howard moved under Rilat for fifth but another yellow flew for Clayton's slow tip over in turn four. Clayton was able to restart.

Then on lap 21 Johnson on the outside groove moved to second in turns three and four. Another yellow came out on lap 23 for Berryhill into the turn four frontstretch fence but he came back out after going to pits. Action was heating up by lap 27 as Johnson drove around Stewart for the lead, with the duo sliding each other back and forth for three laps. Action again stopped on lap 28 for Wilson's flat, bringing out a two lap shootout to the finish. Johnson now lead over Stewart, Kemenah, Rilat, Jacobs and Shepard, who was on the move from the tail.

Johnson lead the rest of the way to the checkered flag over Stewart, who was disqualified, putting Shepard second over Kemenah, Tatnell, K. Jacobs and Ryan Coniam. Rilat was also found light and disqualified The Crown Battery heat fell to Travis Rilat, the B&B Products heat went to Kemenah, the Engler Machine and Tool heat was won by Aaron Berryhill and the TP Wings heat fell to CJ Johnson.

Daron Clayton won the United Aluminum Window Sales & Consulting B Main and Johnson captured the Haulmark Dash and was the Huggins Cams Fast Time qualifier.
