Dale Blaney gets 'home-cookin' in All-Star Speedweek round four - 6/30/04 By Scott Hall HARTFORD, OH – Dale Blaney scored a popular home track win Wednesday night at Sharon Speedway in the Haulmark All Star sprint car 30 lap feature. Round four of the 22nd annual Ohio Speedweek returned to Sharon Speedway after a two year absence and showed Blaney winning his second Speedweek feature of the season in the Andrews Motorsports No. 72 wrenched by George Fisher. It was his eighth career Ohio Speedweek win and he credited his intimate knowledge of the track surface for the winning race setup. “We knew what tire to put on. We had a little harder tire on. I don’t know how many people had that one on. When the track gets like this it seems like a harder tire goes better,” he revealed from victory lane. “We caught traffic good and the car was great all night.” (More)

Speedway in the Haulmark All Star sprint car 40 lap feature. The Pete Jacobs Memorial paid the Hartford, Ohio driver $5,000 to win. Kelly Kinser made a late charge at the end but came up two car lengths short at the finish line. “The guys had the car really good all night. We put a pretty hard tire on and it wore down pretty good,” Blaney recalled. ”It was hard to get through lapped traffic. I felt like I was slowing down quite a bit at the end and I knew someone (Kelly Kinser) was coming near the end,” Blaney added, standing alongside his Andrews Motorsports Maxim-Fisher in victory lane. The $5,000 to win event was delayed a day by rain and with the win Blaney became the 13th different winner in 17 All Star races this year. Blaney's winning machine is the Fritz Andrews-owned, George Fisher-powered Maxim No. 72B.
