MICHAEL DUPUY IS FIRST IN "SALUTE TO 360 NATIONALS" SPRINT POLL KNOXVILLE, IOWA (JUNE 13, 2002) - Michael Dupuy of Amite, Louisiana, is the top-rated 360-cubic-inch sprint car driver in the nation heading into this week's 360 national championships, according to the National 360 Sprint Car Poll voting panel of manufacturers, media members, promoters and sanctioning officials. Dupuy, a two-time winner this spring in American Sprint Car Series (ASCS) competition, earned five (5) of the nineteen (19) first- place ballots cast. Michael, with mechanic Rob Hart, appears to be one of the early favorites to claim the June 13-15 Advance Auto Parts 360 Nationals at the half-mile Knoxville Raceway.

Ranked second in the seasonal 360 poll is United Racing Club (URC) point leader Bill Brian, Jr., of Ephrata, Penna. Brian, who received two first place votes, has three URC wins to his credit already this year. Rounding out the top five in the poll are Terry Gray of Bartlett, Tenn., defending "Driver of the Year" Zach Chappell of Talala, Okla., and current ASCS point leader Tim Crawley of Mabelvale, Ark. Gray earned two first place votes, while Chappell and Crawley received one and three nods, respectively. Completing the top ten drivers in the nation are former "Driver of the Year" Kenny Adams, Northern Sprint Tour (NST) leader Roger Crockett, Gary Wright, and Empire Super Sprint (ESS) aces Lance Yonge and Mike Woodring, respectively.

Crockett, who is also runner-up in the California Civil War Series, garnered two first place votes, while single blue-ribbons were taken by Garry Lee Maier, Chad Layton, Jeff Swindell and Sport Allen.

The National 360 Sprint Car Poll is an official awards program of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum Foundation, Inc.
