Johnson New Gumout King of Wisconsin WILMOT, WISCONSIN. JUNE 29, 2002. The World of Outlaws Gumout Series traveled to the Wilmot Speedway located in Wilmot, Wisconsin Saturday night. Wayne Johnson was a man on a mission. Johnson made it a clean sweep as he set fast time, won his heat and dash and led all forty laps of the A Main. Johnson took home the $5,000 top prize in spite of running on only seven cylinders since lap seventeen.

This was Johnson's second Gumout victory of the season. Johnson stated, "On lap 17 we lost one cylinder and we were just lucky to finish." I knew we had a good car after the heat race, and I knew that these local guys were tough to beat, but we were pretty good!" Johnson is the first Gumout competitor to de-thrown local competitor Dave Moulis. Moulis had captured the Gumout Series events in 2000 and 2001 at Wilmot. Johnson padded his Brodix/All Pro Heads Rookie of the Year points lead.

Eight time IRA champion Joe Roe came finished in the second spot. Roe stated, "I was very happy with our second place finish and it is nice to run at home. I may show up to more Gumout races in the future." Jason Sides finished in the third spot. "If there would have been eighty laps I may have caught Wayne, but I was fortunate to finish the race in the third spot with a bent Jacobs ladder." Rounding out the top five was Shane Stewart and Craig Keel. Finishing in the sixth spot was local and birthday boy Kurt Winker. Brian Carlson came in seventh followed by local drivers Doug Dean, Kim Mock and Todd Daun rounded out the top ten.

Local pilot Tim Vandevere flipped hard down the front stretch early in the race. He was un-injured. Look for the World of Outlaw Gumout Series as they travel next week with the Pennzoil World of Outlaws for a three-day show in Fargo, North Dakota. This will be the first television race of the season. Huggins Cams
