All Star Sprints - K-C Raceway - Sat. 6/15/02 By Scott Hall ALMA, OH - It was the Jeff Shepard show Saturday night at K-C Raceway in the All Star sprint-NCRA 40-lap feature. The show was delayed by rain during the B main for two hours and 15 minutes, thus the final checkered flew at 1:45 a.m. But it was worth the wait for Shepard who picked up his third feature win of 2002 in the Denny Ashworth No. 92. Kenny Jacobs was second with Dean Jacobs third after starting in the 15th spot.

As Jimmy Stinson brought the field to the green, outside front row man Rodney Duncan trailed in second and applied heavy pressure to the leader, with Duncan running low and Stinson high. Chad Kemenah and K. Jacobs joined the fray, making it a three car battle for second. Duncan slid into the lead on lap nine, with Stinson now second, Shepard third after starting fourth and getting a great restart on a lap three caution, and K. Jacobs. Shepard took over second on lap 11 from Stinson and began applying pressure to the leader on the high groove. Shepard rode the very top rim of K-C's lightning fast surface around Duncan to snare the lead on lap 12, and he never looked back. Shepard stretched his advantage, with K. Jacobs taking over second on lap 16 from Duncan. By the half way mark, Shepard had a full straightaway lead over K. Jacobs, Duncan, Kemenah and D. Jacobs.

A Travis Rilat flat on lap 32 stopped action a final time, but Shepard had a margin of six lapped cars for the restart, and motored away to an impressive win. D. Jacobs took over third from Kemenah with just three laps remaining, and he finished there ahead of Kemenah, Duncan, Rob Chaney, up from 10th starting spot, Kelly Kinser who started 17th, Kevin Huntley, Eric Hysong and Stinson. Shepard's margin of victory was a half a lap at the end.

The Crown Battery heat fell to Boston Reid, the B&B Products heat went to Kelly Kinser, the Engler Machine and Tool heat was won by Gary Wright and the TP Wings heat fell to Butch Schroeder while Wes Harbour won the Georgia Marketing & Promotions C Main.

The United Aluminum Window Sales & Consulting B Main fell to Kevin Huntley and Travis Rilat captured the Haulmark Dash. Brooke Tatnell was leading the B Main but his machine broke, forcing him to start the A Main as a provisional starter. Donnie Moran won the Renegade Dirtcar late model feature.
