Shepard wins WaKeeney All Stars vs. NCRA main By John Rittenoure WAKEENEY, KS. (August 13, 2002) - Fresh off a win at the 1200 lb Nationals last month, Jeff Shepard picked up where he left off winning the All Stars vs. NCRA Thunder Through the Plains main event at WaKeeney Speedway Tuesday night. Rain washed out the series opener the night before at Thunder Hill Speedway, but Shepard got things rolling across the Western Kansas plains with his fourth career All Stars/NCRA co-sanctioned victory.

Jason Johnson started on the pole and led early on before Shepard, who started inside second row, made his move. After the half way point in the 30-lapper Shepard charged into the lead for the victory. Jason fell to third as Jerrod Hull got by for second. Greg Wilson and Chad Kemenah rounded out the top five. Following a day off for travel the series moves to Mid-Nebraska Speedway on Thursday. The Crown Battery heat went to Gary Wright, the B&B Oval Track Products heat to Jerrod Hull, the Engler Tool and Machine heat fell to Mike Wagner and the TP Wings heat was won by Greg Wilson. Jerrod Wilson captured the United Window Sales and Consulting B Main.
