All Star Sprint Ohio Speedweek Results - Fremont Speedway - Tue. 7/02/02 By Scott Hall FREMONT, OH - Kelly Kinser made it three different winners in three Ohio Speedweek events Tuesday night at Fremont Speedway in the Arizona Sport Shirt All Star Ohio Sprint Speedweek "Budweiser 40" feature. The event paid Kinser $6,000 for his second win of the year. John Ivy started 12th and finished second, using the track's spec Goodyear tire on the right rear of his Carousel Racing No. 20.

Chad Kemenah and Byron Reed started on the front row with Kinser and Shane Stewart in row two. Kinser led Kemenah by a nose on lap one when the first of two cautions for the evening appeared for a Jim Linder and Danny Smith spin. Smith restarted on the tail and Linder exited. Reed led again under green with Kinser second ahead of Stewart and Kemenah. Once Reed entered lapped traffic in the Reebar Die Casting Maxim, Kinser closed on him in his familiar low groove.

Kinser nosed ahead on lap 14, and once by Reed, he pulled ahead slightly as Stewart followed Kinser past Reed. Stewart was using the high groove, cutting into Kinser's lead each lap. Kinser led by a wheel on lap 17 over Stewart, and only by a nose on lap 18. At the half way point, Kinser still led by a car length over Stewart, Reed, Mike Wagner, Dale Blaney, Kenny Jacobs and Ivy. As Kinser expertly sliced through lapped traffic in the low groove, Wagner and Blaney battled furiously for fourth.

On lap 26 Wagner and Blaney banged wheels, allowing Ivy to get past them both for the number four spot. Ivy then moved in on Reed as Stewart began slowing slightly each lap as his right rear tire was losing air. Ivy ducked around Reed for second as Stewart's tire exploded, ending his run and setting up a five lap dash to the finish once Stewart was towed off. With four lapped cars after the leader Kinser, it took Ivy two laps to clear them and try to move in on Kinser, but the checkered fell as time ran out on Ivy. Kinser's margin of victory was half a straightaway. "I was worried about my tire sealing up," Kinser recalled after the event was over. "I was trying to keep it a little bit warm under the yellow. We've finally got this Eagle car figured out." Kinser's machine utilized Gaerte power and rode Hoosier tires.

"I watched my cousin Brian (Smith) in the C Main and then we threw on the spec tire and figured 'what do we have to loose?' We figured 'let's try it' and here we are," Ivy said with a smile from the runnerup spot. After Reed in third was Blaney, Wagner, Jacobs, Joe Gaerte up from 17th, Paul McMahan who started tenth, Kemenah and 14th starter Rodney Duncan.

The Crown Battery heat fell to Dale Blaney, the B&B Products heat went to Mike Wagner, the Engler Machine and Tool heat was won by Chad Kemenah and the TP Wings heat fell to Shane Stewart with the fifth heat to Joe Gaerte. Brian Smith won the Georgia Marketing & Promotions C Main and Butch Schroeder won the United Aluminum Window Sales & Consulting B Main. Byron Reed captured the Haulmark Dash while fast time by Blaney was worth $50, courtesy of Tri-State Outlook. T
