All Star Sprint Ohio Speedweek Results - Attica Raceway Park- Sun. 6/30/02 By Scott Hall ATTICA, OH - It was a great duel between Greg Wilson and Kenny Jacobs Sunday night at Attica Raceway Park in the opener of the 20th annual Arizona Sport Shirt All Star Ohio Sprint Speedweek. The 30-lap feature paid $5,000 to Wilson for his second career Ohio Speedweek win and was run in front of a capacity crowd. Chad Kemenah took the runner-up spot with only two laps remaining and Jacobs ended up third. "We were getting a little tight," Wilson recalled in victory lane after taking a Polish victory lap. "But our American Racers get a hold of that rubber really well. I knew if we didn't mess up too bad we'd be alright. We put a new engine in today and the guys at the shop gave me a heck of a race car."

Wilson's familiar No. 63 Maxim is owned by Bob Hampshire with sponsorship from Barfield's Gift Fruits and Lima Auto Mall. Jacobs started on the pole with Wilson alongside for Rick Foley's green flag and Jacobs grabbed the early lead over Wilson and Butch Schroeder. Kemenah kept the pressure on Schroeder, and got past him for third on lap four. Then a red flag flew for Paul McMahan, who got sideways and was hit by Rodney Duncan, with Sean Chaney sliding into the accident, which blocked the track. Wilson dove low under Jacobs to take over the lead following the restart, with Kemenah third, and Dean Jacobs and Schroeder trading fourth seemingly every lap.

Wilson was running the cushion of Attica's surface, with Jacobs running low in turns one and two, and high in three and four. By the half-way point, Wilson still led Jacobs, Kemenah, D. Jacobs, Kelly Kinser and Schroeder. The leaders now approached lapped traffic, and Jacobs pulled along side Wilson but could not get by on lap 16. Kemenah joined the battle, staying glued right on the back bumper of Jacobs. Four circuits later, Jacobs went low in turns three and four and slid in front of Wilson to get the lead, but he held that spot for only one lap before Wilson got the lead back.

"I got by him, "Jacobs related afterward. "But I did the stupid thing of staying on the bottom of one and two and it started laying rubber down and I never knew it until Chad went by me. I really drove kind of a stupid race," he concluded with a grin. Once Wilson was back on top the race was all his, and Kemenah took over second on lap 29, finishing there. "I was just waiting," said Kemenah of his race strategy. "Greg was just a little better than we were tonight," the pilot of Jim Harble's Eagle Chassis concluded.

After K. Jacobs in third was Schroeder, Jeff Shepard up from eighth starting spot, D. Jacobs, who lost out to Shepard right at the end, Dale Blaney in the Andrews Racing No. 72, Mark Keegan, Danny Smith and Kinser. The Crown Battery heat fell to Kelly Kinser, the B&B Products heat went to John Ivy, the Engler Machine and Tool heat was won by Phil Gressman and the TP Wings heat fell to Dean Jacobs. Western Pa. driver Brian Woodhall won the Georgia Marketing & Promotions C Main and Danny Smith won the United Aluminum Window Sales & Consulting B Main while Wilson captured the Haulmark Dash. Rob Chaney's fast time was worth $100 from Burns Electric.
