17th Chili Bowl Opener to Former Chili Champ Boorse, as Sills Competes! - HD Staff - 01/08/03 - Tulsa, OK. ...Dan Boorse, from the great state of Wisconsin mastered the tight Chili Bowl at the Tulsa Expo Center Wednesday night to steal a victory from the 'out of retirement' Jimmy Sills. Sills led the first 14 laps but hooked a rut on a lap 15 restart allowing Boorse to take advantage on the track that produced very little passing. Sills said afterward, "the car was getting tighter and tighter as the race went on, and I finally caught the ledge in turn four and Dan was there to take advantage." Fresno California's Jason Meyers was impressive in his first Chili Bowl action finishing third. (summary and notes)
