Kraig Kinser had throttle problems before the start of heat race #3, and was late getting to the staging area, forcing him to the rear of the field. Kinser was up to 5th when he lost an engine in turn 4 and spun.

A-main

Lap 1—Steve Kinser got the jump off of turn 4 to take the lead. Joey Saldana passed Steve Kinser for the lead on the top in 1&2

Lap 4—Traffic. Joey Saldana’s lead 10 carlengths

Lap 6—
Jason Meyers passed Brian Paulus for 10th on the top exiting turn 4

Lap 8—Heavy traffic. Joey Saldana’s lead 5 carlengths over Steve Kinser

Lap 11—Caution for
Jason Meyers (8th at the time), who stopped in turn 1 with a blown engine. On the restart, Daryn Pittman stopped in turn 2 with electrical problems. Under the caution, the rain began to fall. Red flag. After a 35 minute delay, the race was declared official. No interview.
