Bobby East of Brownsburg, Ind. became the first driver this

year to claim victories in all three USAC National racing series, winning Saturday night’s “Dominic’s of New York 100” at Richmond (Va.)

International Raceway.

East, the son of noted car builder Bob East, led all but the first three laps of the 100-lap USAC Weld Racing Silver Crown race at the 3/4-mile paved oval. He caught early leader Jason McCord on lap four and held off repeated challenges from runner-up Brian Tyler to put his Power Stroke Diesel/Ford Beast/Ford into victory lane. The win followed previous 2004 USAC victories in National Sprint Car and Midget Car competition.

Trailing East and Tyler at the checkered flag were pole

starter Jerry Coons, Jr., McCord, Bud Kaeding, Dave Steele, J.J. Yeley,

Eric Gordon, Dave Darland and Dane Carter. Coons won the pole Friday with a speed of 130.574 mph.

Saturday night’s race was interrupted six times by yellow

flags but there were no driver injuries in any of the incidents.

Teddy Beach won Friday’s 15-lap “qualifying race.”
