Meyers wins Cotton Classic from 7th starting - By Gary Thomas Hanford, Ca - October 22, 2006... Throughout his career Clovis, Ca’s Jason Meyers never had much success at Hanford’s Kings Speedway. Most drivers have one track that for some reason they can’t catch a break at, and for Meyers, it was the speedway he called home. Last season, however, he was finally able to get the monkey off his back and quietly pick up his first ever win at Kings Speedway while subbing for Ronnie Day during a Rebel Cup 360 race in late March. This year all the past struggles were put behind him and on Saturday night at the Cotton Classic Meyers used a stellar performance aboard his Elite Landscaping, Pacific Union Homes, Lafferty Homes No. 14 to score his biggest career victory at Kings Speedway. A well prepared track greeted competitors and they used it to put a great show in the feature. The initial start of the 30 lap, $4,000 to win Cotton Classic feature turned out disastrous for outside front row starter Jonathan Allard of Chico. While going into turn one Allard’s No. 0 machine got sideways and the right rear dug in which sent him for a nasty set of barrel rolls. He was done for the night and it moved Salinas’s Ronnie Day up to the front row for the complete restart. It was pole sitter Jason Statler of San Jose, however, jumping out to the lead when the green flag was unveiled again. He led one lap before a spin in turn one by Tim Kaeding brought out a caution. This wasn’t the last we’d hear from Kaeding though as he proceeded to put on a brilliant charge from the back. (Read the whole deal)

Meyers ran second at Calistoga Speedway in California on Saturday night before flying early Sunday morning back to Ohio. He arrived in-time to come away with a National Sprint Tour victory at Attica Raceway Park Sunday night. The event paid $10,000 to win. Dale Blaney finished second with local ace Byron Reed third. Steve Kinser charged from 15th to finish fourth, and Paul McMahan completed the top-five. (Summary)

Meyers motors to RRS points and $12,500 at Fargo - West Fargo, ND — July 2, 2005 — By Chris Dolack, World of Outlaws Senior Writer Jason Meyers did everything he could to push his car into the lead Saturday night in the World of Outlaws Duel in the Dakotas finale, but even he was resigned to the fact he’d be a runner-up for the second night in a row at Red River Valley Speedway. Then all of a sudden with three laps to go, leader and hometown favorite Donny Schatz slowed on the frontstretch leaving a highly partisan crowd clad mostly in his team’s colors stunned. Meyers shot by on the outside then held off Brooke Tatnell to the checkered flag for his fourth A-feature victory of the season. Meyers, who won a preliminary feature in this event last season, collected $12,500 and became the seventh different Duel in the Dakotas A-feature winner in the past seven years. Kraig Kinser was third, followed by quick qualifier Terry McCarl and preliminary feature winner Brian Paulus. “[Schatz] was really good tonight,” said Meyers, a native of Clovis, Calif., who won on a half-mile speedway for the second time in the past 11 days in his Elite Racing Team Maxim. “I don’t know if we were going to get him or not. He had a great car, but so did we. This racetrack takes a motor and we had a motor tonight. Everybody did a great job.” (More)

Meyers masters Tri-City for World of Outlaws Sprint Series win - Granite City, IL — May 7, 2005 — By Chris Dolack, World of Outlaws Senior Writer ...After several close encounters with Victory Lane this season, Jason Meyers was not going to be denied Saturday night at Tri-City Speedway. Meyers picked up his first World of Outlaws Sprint Series victory in 2005 after passing Sammy Swindell at the halfway point of the 30-lap feature and locking his car into the low groove to take the checkered flag in a feature worth $10,000. With leader Swindell running a consistent line, Meyers took advantage of building rubber in Turns 3 and 4 by diving to the inside of Swindell on Lap 16. Swindell couldn’t block the aggressive move in Turn 3 as Meyers shot in front and made the lead stick in Turns 1 and 2. After that, Meyers needed only to be smooth on restarts and work through some light traffic. After lapping rookie contender Brandon Wimmer, Meyers built a 2.5-second advantage as Swindell and third-place runner Kraig Kinser struggled to carve a path around Wimmer. But Meyers would be tested four laps from the finish when the left rear tire on Jason Solwold’s machine shredded, bringing out a caution for debris. It left many of the teams nervous about the condition of their own tires, and Meyers pondering the late-race caution a couple of weeks ago in Muskogee, Okla., when he was leading with two laps to go and couldn’t fend off Steve Kinser’s attack from second. With rubber laying down in the turns, Meyers made certain to stick his Elite Racing Team car right in the middle of it, preventing anybody from getting around him. Swindell wound up second followed by Kraig Kinser, Tim Shaffer and Jason Sides. “On that last restart, I made sure I got to the rubber and took off right in it,” said Meyers, of Clovis, Calif. “I tried to take off as early as I could without getting in trouble to have as much speed as I could going into Turn 1. The last thing I wanted to do is go into Turn 1, get tight in the rubber and let somebody slip by me.” Meyers was unaware Swindell and the rest of the lead pack was hung up behind the lapped car. He believed Swindell was ready to pounce at any moment. “I didn’t know that lapped car was between us,” Meyers said. “I saw Sammy poke his nose under me at one point and then I got by Wimmer. When I got by Wimmer going into Turn 3, I assumed that Sammy had gotten around him, too. I guess from the crew standpoint they got to relax a little bit but I didn’t get to relax in the racecar, I had to stay going hard.” (Read it all)

Jason Meyers scores in night two at Fargo - HD Staff - 07/09/04 - Fargo, ND - Jason Meyers of Clovis, California drove the Elite Racing Maxim #14 to a 25-lap prelininary feature event win Friday night at Red River Valley Speedway. Who is in charge? Meyers dominates Hartford - By Bobby Gerould - 07/16/04 - Hartford, MI. - On a night that saw the return of Ted Johnson to the World of Outlaws Sprint Series, Jason Meyers dominated the 30-lap feature at Hartford Speedway Wednesday night. The commanding drive for Meyers included quick-time, a heat win, and all 30-laps led. Overshadowing the victory was the presence of WoO founder Ted Johnson who arrived with a legal team, and law enforcement. Claiming that Boundless never paid Johnson in full, Johnson repossessed the series. Richard Day, Director of Public Relations for the World of Outlaws issued the following statement. "Ted Johnson repossessed his company, World of Outlaws Racing, Wednesday at Hartford Speedway Park, and regained control of the company’s assets." Making matters more mucky is a press release from the publicly traded Boundless organization that claims Ted Johnson and Carlton Reimers have been fired from the World of Outlaws. Which begs the question, who is in charge? Day says "Johnson will operate sprint car racing’s premier series this weekend at Eldora Speedway. Pending litigation prohibits more information from being released at this time." (Now skip the politrix, and read about the race)

After Rain Delay, Meyers Wins Freedom 40 from 12th - HD Staff - Chillicothe, OH. 05/11/04 ...California's Jason Meyers started 12th but was first at the checkered flag Tuesday Night at K-C Raceway. The Freedom 40 win for the Elite Racing Team #14 is more proof that Meyers is heating up on the rugged World of Outlaws Sprint Series. Meyers passed Jason Sides on lap 31 of 40 to earn the $10,000 triumph in his Maxim on Hoosier tires. His victory vaulted him past Steve Kinser for the points lead in the Racers Racing Series. Meyers has now finished in the top five in seven of the last eleven WoO races, with two wins in the same span. The Tuesday win was the third A-Main win of 2004 by the 25 year-old from Clovis. "I just want to thank all of you in the stands for sticking with us tonight", said Meyers. "...We had rain, we had fog, but you guys are still here and we love you for it! This is a great race track. Anytime it’s wide enough to race 4 wide and still have some room, you know it’s a great track. My guys Steve (Swenson) and Bob (Curtis) put a (Hoosier) RD-15 on the car tonight, and it worked perfectly. This car was awesome all night long." (More)

Talladega to Jason Meyers - HD Staff - Talladega, AL. 04/24/04 - Clovis California's Jason Meyers won the World of Outlaws A-Main raced in front of a largely NASCAR crowd at the Talladega Short Track Saturday night. The race was one of 60 points earning events on the Racers Racing Series schedule. Meyers' 35-lap romp in the feature event added to his already impressive driving resume that includes a track championship at Calistoga Speedway. Meyers said, “It feels really good to get our second win (of 2004) here. We set a goal at the beginning of the season to win 10 races, and we were falling a little behind. This puts us back on track." Meyers added, "If anyone’s out there from the big track (Talladega Superspeedway), that’s where I want to go, so maybe we were able to open a few eyes tonight. I want to thank everyone for coming out tonight, and I hope you all enjoyed the races.” (More)

Craig Dollansky finished second after holding off Danny Lasoski who was thrid. Shane Stewart and Tyler Walker rounded out the top five finishers. Sixth through tenth went to Paul McMahan, Donny Schatz (from 22nd), Kraig Kinser, Tim Shaffer, and Daryn Pittman. 26 cars timed in. Lasoski was the fastest qualifier. Jason Meyers Dominates Port Royal Main Event By Richard Day PORT ROYAL, PA (October 2) – Jason Meyers showed just how much he enjoys racing at Port Royal Speedway Thursday, leading all 25 laps to win the O’Reilly World of Outlaws Series “A” Feature. Meyers started outside the front row and drove the #7 VMAC Maxim under the checkered flag with a straightaway to spare for his fourth main event victory of the series’ 25th Anniversary Season. “I really like this place,” Meyers said. “We were talking earlier this week about where we were racing this weekend, and someone said, ‘we’re going to Port Royal,’ and I said ‘cool, I like that place, we’ve run pretty well there before.’ “It’s really cold out here, and I think it’s great that so many people came out to support sprint car racing tonight. I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to run this car. For everyone who’s been wondering, Craig (Dollansky) is coming back for Kilgore, TX (October 24th), and he’s going to run the last four races. Scott Benic was here helping out tonight as well, and this Maxim chassis and Hoosier tires worked to perfection. It was getting pretty thin up there getting off of turn 2, and I smacked the wall pretty hard there. I was surprised that nobody went by me." (read more)

Meyers Wins as Outlaws Christen Fox Ridge Speedway By Richard Day ARCADIA, WI (June 10) – Californian Jason Meyers felt right at home Tuesday when the O’Reilly World of Outlaws Series ran its inaugural event at Fox Ridge Speedway. The Fresno native, who started driving Wisconsin-based Karavan Motorsports’ #7 VMAC Maxim a week after Craig Dollansky suffered a season-ended back injury in the Infiniti Pro Series’ Freedom 100 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway May 17th, led the final 11 2/3 laps to claim the $10,000 first prize. "This is awesome," Meyers yelled to the largest crowd ever to watch a race at Fox Ridge Speedway. "It’s unfortunate that I’m driving this car under these circumstances, but this is a great opportunity for me. The first thing I’m going to do is call Craig and tell him about it. "This team’s done a awesome job. D.J. (Lindsey), Bryan (Sundby) and Heath (Jacobson) gave me a great race car tonight. I wasn’t sure about our tire choice, but they did what they thought was right and it was perfect. I want to thank (co-car owner) Scott Boyd for this chance … and Madonna (Boyd) told me it was her birthday today, so happy birthday Madonna! "We have a lot of great people associated with this team: VMAC, Karavan Trailers, Hoosier Tires and Maxim Chassis. This was a brand new Charlie Fisher motor tonight, and it ran great. Scott Boyd put this race on, and I’m just glad all these fans came out to support us. Thank you!" (read it all)

Best of 2002: Jason Meyers at Calistoga - Meyers posted the only clean sweep I witnessed in 2002. He turned the trick at Calistoga with a daring heat race pass that made the sweep possible, matching up with his feature win and quick-time effort. Meyers emerged as the 2002 Calistoga Speedway "Scarborough Trophy" winner.

Meyers is a Hit at Tulare, Can He Stay On Top of the Charts? By Bobby Gerould (Tulare, CA. 11-26-02) … In 2002, there have been three Winged 410 Sprint Car races at the Tulare Thunderbowl so far. The same driver won all three races. However, the most recent race was five months ago on June 29th. Like the pop charts, five months can be an eternity in sprint car racing. So will Jason Meyers still be in a groove? Clovis, California's Jason Meyers (23), who spent 2001 on 'tour' racing against the world's best sprint car drivers on the World of Outlaws series, learned firsthand how the best teams in the business operate. He parlayed that knowledge into domination of his California peers at the three Thunderbowl Winged 410 Sprint Car races held this season. Meyers who returned home to racing in the Golden State this season swept the three feature events, leaving him 'unbeaten' at the Thunderbowl. Maintaining that unbeaten status may be difficult as Meyers joins 37 pre-entered drivers for Friday's Fan Appreciation races at the ultra fast, high-banked 1/3 mile oval located on the Tulare Fairgrounds. May 2002...It was "invert 4, take 4", with no benefits for winning the first heat race. Yet there was Jason Meyers on Sunday night at Calistoga's scary-fast half-mile, executing a thrilling, caution to the wind, HammerDown!, super-slider, on the leader, five time track champ, Steve Kent. The fans stood. Meyers pulled off the pass with room to spare, and at the end of the night, when Meyers won the Tribute to Gary Patterson, it was that heat race move that allowed Meyers to call it a "Clean Sweep". Fast time, heat, feature. All Jason Meyers.

Meyers victory in the 30 lap, Golden State Challenge, "King Of California" series event, was his third straight Feature win the Thunderbowl, and the fith GSC win of the year for the Clovis driver. Jason Meyers Wins 4th Golden State Race - 06/01/02 - Tulare, CA. ...Clovis California's Jason Meyers put a race-winning slide-job on leader Blake Robertson Saturday night in Golden State Challenge racing at Tulare Thunderbowl to capture his second straight feature win. The 23 year-old, on the heels of last Sunday's clean sweep at Calistoga, posted quick-time, and won from fourth starting spot on this night. The 30-lap win on the high-banked 1/3 mile was the fourth of the season in GSC competition for Meyers and his family owned #14 team. He was chased at the finish line by Eric Rossi, and Tommy Tarlton. Visiting Tennessee champion, Sammy Swindell drove the Beef Packers #83 Jr. to a fourth place finish, and Tim Kaeding charged from dead last to 5th. ...That GSC points leader Tim Kaeding raced at all in the feature was nothing short of miraculous. After a violent flip in his heat race that destroyed the primary Wright One Maxim #35, Tim found himself starting in the rear of a 22 car field, in a spare car built in the pits by "everyone". Kaeding then carried the car from 22nd into the top five, salvaging what could have been a devastating blow to his chances for a first "King of California" title. (summary)

Meyers Becomes Third Different Winner in Golden State By: Troy Hennig (Chico, CA 4-06-02)…Jason Meyers becomes the third different winner in as many events during the Golden State Challenge King of California sprint car series at Silver Dollar Speedway on Saturday night. Meyers, who is back home in California after a two year stint traveling with the World of Outlaws, scored his second career main event victory at Chico. The Don Berry Construction / Dave Meyers Construction / Maxim Chassis looked comfortable in the 30 lap main event on a track that was dry slick and caused a lot of problems throughout the race. “I have never been so happy to see a checkered flag,” said Meyers. “It seemed like we ran 150 laps tonight,” said Meyers, referring to the numerous laps ran under caution.
